The method detects injuries of the back of the nose, as well as more complex fractures of the base of the skull. The study of the head lasts quite a long time - from 30 to 60 minutes;
endoscopy- not recommended when changing the shape of the nose, as it can cause additional deformities. A flexible endoscope is inserted into the nasal cavity, if necessary, the paranasal sinuses are examined. The method is good for curvature of the septum and damage to cartilage structures. It allows you to assess the condition of the mucous membrane and surrounding tissues.

Differential diagnosis is required if a skull base fracture is suspected. How to know if the meninges are damaged? For this, a lumbar puncture is performed. The doctor inserts a thin needle between the vertebrae and takes the fluid for analysis. The presence of blood impurities confirms the rupture of the meninges.

Additionally, an ECG is performed, a general blood test is done, and discharge from the nasal passages is examined. If glucose is detected in the biomaterial, the patient is sent to the neurosurgical department.

Treatment

The tissues of the mucous membrane of the damaged organ are intensively fed with blood. Therefore, with injuries without displacement, healing occurs quickly. The patient is treated with a wound, stitches are applied, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial drugs are administered.

Deformity is a sign that the bones are misaligned. Part of the nose in such cases has to be restored. Reposition is carried out by a closed method or during surgery. Treatment of a nose fracture involves matching bone fragments with subsequent splinting.

To straighten the nose after a fracture, you will need elevator- a tool that pulls out fragments that have gone deep and restores a broken back wall. Patients believe that it hurts to set their nose, but this is not so. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, usually novocaine.

The reduction of the nose with lateral displacement is done by hand. The doctor returns the bones to the correct position and performs a control alignment. To protect against accidental displacement, a nose mask is used. Sometimes they do without it. After repositioning the nose, paraffin-soaked gauze swabs with an antibiotic are introduced into the nasal passages. They prevent the displacement of cartilage tissue and hold bone structures. Treatment of a complicated fracture of the bones of the nose involves splinting. Fixatives are applied outside and left for 7-10 days.

The reduction of a fractured nose is recommended to be done on the day of the injury. With concomitant concussion, the procedure is postponed for 5-6 days. How to treat a fracture

The main treatment for a fracture of the bones of the nose without displacement is carried out at home. After the doctor has adjusted the nose, the victim goes home. In the first days after the injury, he is prescribed antibiotics, sedatives and painkillers. Treatment of the nose at home involves the use of ointments and creams for hematomas in the fracture area. To facilitate breathing, vasoconstrictor drugs are prescribed - nasal sprays are used in limited quantities and only according to indications.

Surgical treatment

A multifragmentary fracture of the bones of the nose is corrected surgically. To correct an open fracture of the nose with a displacement, an operation using mini-plates is prescribed. During a surgical operation, bone or cartilage tissue is often built up. In case of bruising and hematoma, drainage is carried out. Then an incision is made and the bone and cartilage structures are compared. Severe bleeding is stopped with a bandage.

Straightening the nose after a fracture allows metal structures, but their size is minimal. If the bone has shifted, then determine the severity of harm to health. In some cases, not only surgery on the face is required, but also surgical correction of the bones of the skull. In the case of multifragmented injuries with cartilage ruptures, it is not always possible to carry out high-quality reposition from the first time. Rhinoplasty will complete the treatment started. It is carried out at the final stage, when the union of the fracture of the nasal bone is completed and only a cosmetic defect remains to be eliminated.

A fracture of the bones of the nose with a displacement provokes the appearance of a hump or retraction of the back. If you are not lucky enough to break your nose laterally, then minor deformities will remain even after successful reposition. As soon as the healing process has come to an end, rhinoseptoplasty is prescribed. It is performed under general anesthesia six months after the injury.

Plates are placed on the patient's face through which radiation passes. The rehabilitation course includes 6-12 procedures. The duration of the session is 10 minutes;
electrophoresis- to stimulate bone fusion they offer. Electrophoresis, in which electrodes are applied to the ears, can speed up recovery after a fracture. Treatment improves the transport function of molecules, activates nutrition, prevents the development of ENT diseases: rhinitis, sinusitis, frontal sinusitis;
infrared light treatment- an effective physiotherapy during which incandescent lamps are used. It improves blood flow, eliminates pain, prevents infection after surgery, prevents frequent colds and rhinitis of various nature. The therapy involves 12-14 procedures lasting 30 minutes.

Microwave therapy is sometimes prescribed. It dilates blood vessels, activates recovery processes and shortens the rehabilitation period. A broken nose heals faster than other injuries. A possible shift slows recovery and provokes negative health consequences.

Complications and consequences

A fracture of the bones of the nose often provokes a curvature of the septum. The defect is not always visible, but it affects the functioning of the respiratory system. Air currents enter unevenly, one nostril breathes poorly, which leads to snoring and sleep apnea. The risk of acute respiratory viral infections increases, frequent colds bother, rhinitis then subsides, then reappears. Sometimes the nose does not breathe completely, and there is no runny nose.

All these problems are solved by correcting the nasal septum. The procedure is safe and allows you to quickly cope with the deformation. The patient is informed about the possible curvature by the doctor at the follow-up examination after surgery or conservative treatment. With persistent congestion after a nose fracture, a decision is made to perform rhinoseptoplasty.

The most dangerous complications occur when. Lack of timely medical attention can be fatal. Fractures of the skull are indicated by signs such as loss of orientation or unconsciousness, delayed reactions, convulsive seizures.

If the treatment was carried out on time, then the negative consequences of a nose fracture do not always occur. Often they are aesthetic in nature and are easily removed. A small hump makes some people more attractive, but more often they want to get rid of the defect. Rhinoplasty solves this problem in one procedure. But cosmetic correction should be carried out no earlier than six months after healing.

The nose is extremely rare. It is inherent in joints. A similar defect in the face area indicates poor-quality surgery or a complete lack of medical care for a fracture.
